Nhood Services Hungary is developing the first two retail units of the Australian Harvey Norman chain in Hungary. According to the plans, one store will be located at the Budaörs Auchan Commercial Center as part of a strip mall, while the other will await customers at the Dunakeszi Commercial Center in a standalone building. In order to achieve the most sustainable and environmentally conscious implementation possible, we aimed for BREEAM certifications already in the design stage. After nearly a year-long consultation with our advisors, both investments have been awarded BREEAM Design Stage Excellent. After the completion of the projects, the goal is to obtain the Excellent level final certifications as well.

The Harvey Norman in Budaörs will be built as part of the Green Strip Mall development project at the local Auchan Commercial Center on approximately 16,000 m2. The site features many well-known brands – among them Auchan, Auchan Korzó, Ikea, Decathlon, Burger King and Belozzo. Harvey Norman will join this portfolio with a floor area of more than 9,000 m2, but the mixed-use project also includes a playground, an event space, as well as new cafes and restaurants. The conceptual plans were prepared by Chapman Taylor, the licensing and construction plans by DPi Design.

The second location of the Harvey Norman store chain in Hungary is the Dunakeszi Auchan Commercial Center, during the expansion of which not only new commercial units will open, but according to the plans, a spectacular green area development with restaurants and a playground will be realized here as well. The planned size of the standalone Harvey Norman store is 8,000 m2. The permit and construction plans of the building were prepared by Konstruma Mérnöki Iroda Kft.

Both the Budaörs and Dunakeszi projects are excellent examples of Nhood's mission to create modern, vibrant and sustainable places that make life better for the people living in the area and also bring value to local communities. As well as fitting in with the existing environment, sustainability was an important consideration for both projects, and elements such as water-saving equipment, natural light interiors, solar panels and biodiversity-friendly green spaces on buildings and in car parks were included in the design.

In order to make the developments as sustainable as possible, we aimed for BREEAM certification in both cases from the beginning of the construction planning, so the suggestions of our consulting partners - ABUD Mérnökiroda Kft. and Greenbors Consulting Kft. - were already taken into account during the design stage. After nearly a year-long consultation with our advisors, both investments have been awarded BREEAM Design Stage Excellent. Following the implementation of the projects, the goal is to obtain the Excellent level final certifications as well.
