Organic vegetable production and educational program for school groups & families
" It is not often that a real estate services company participates in the establishment of organic farming. However, we think that a more livable future also depends on us, so we strive to develop our clients' portfolio in such a way as to set an example in the field of social responsibility. We are particularly proud of the Palánta Biofarm because it conveys real value and shows that a biologically sustainable, eco-positive, community-building activity can be perfectly integrated into the area of a commercial property.”

The project
Nhood's ambition is to steer the areas it manages towards sustainability in line with the EU's climate goals. This is supported by the Palánta Bio-garden project, the location of which we found at the Maglód Auchan Commercial Center after careful consideration. The unused area of about 1.3 hectares was found to be suitable for creating conditions for chemical-free vegetable production. The organic garden has the potential to produce up to 45 tons of organic vegetables per year with the involvement of expert partners.

We wanted to make it eco-friendly and sustainable in the long term, which is why cultivation is done with environmentally friendly, regenerative farming methods, a combination of foil house and open-field production. Vegetables include lettuce, arugula, carrots, beets, and butter radishes. The garden contributes to making healthy food based on short supply chains widely available and, thanks to regenerative farming, to improving biodiversity and soil structure.
We wanted to make it educational and social, which is why we find it important to set an example for future generations with organic farming and bring nature closer to families living in urban environments. From the point of view of children's proper development, a balanced diet is extremely important, one of the main pillars of which is the regular consumption of vegetables. Therefore, an educational program is also connected to the organic garden, which, in cooperation with local schools, presents children with the joys of gardening in a playful way. From May 2023, the approximately 100 m2 educational garden awaits children, who can learn about the season's fruits and vegetables, composting methods, and planting seedlings, in an open-air area divided into 3 parts. We are also preparing workshops for adults, where those interested can learn about the basics of modern organic gardening.
We wanted to make it economically profitable, so an essential part of the project is the agreement with Auchan Hungary, who, as part of the cooperation, undertook to deliver the produced organic vegetables to consumers at an affordable price. The products are sold under the Palánta brand in a specific selection of products within the framework of Auchan's Farm to Table program. -
